Who is eligible for membership in FCCLA?

Membership in FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is specifically designed for students who are enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) courses and have paid the required dues. This focus ensures that members share a common interest and background in FACS education, which is integral to the mission and activities of the organization. Being part of a FACS course provides members with the foundational knowledge and skills that FCCLA aims to enhance through leadership development and community service projects.

While high school students may be the primary demographic, the key requirement is the enrollment in a FACS class. This distinguishes FCCLA from other organizations; mere enrollment in high school or achieving honors does not qualify a student for membership. Moreover, students in college do not fit the membership criteria established for FCCLA, as the organization is geared towards middle and high school students primarily involved in family and consumer sciences education.
